Instructor's Policy Statement for Summer 2002
- Grading
- 20% Reports/Problem Sets
- 20% Quizzes
- 20% Final Examination
- 20% Observations/Safety
- 20% Preparation
- The Final Grade scale:
- 100 >= A >= 90 > B+ >= 85 > B >= 80 > C+ >=
75 > C >= 70 > D >= 60 > F.
- Report Submission
- Reports are photostatic copies of your notebook entries. They are due by 5pm on the next day after experimental work is completed.
- Maintain you notebooks in accordance with the text. Examples are provided on the web.
- The grade for delinquent reports will be reduced 10% of the total possible points for each working day.
- No reports are acceptable after the final examination.
- Quizzes
- The lowest quiz grade will be discarded.
- Observations
- During the laboratory period, I and the teaching assistant shall observe your safety, technical practices, and maintenance of the notebook. A grade from 0 to 10 is assigned for the day. Gross failure to follow departmental safety regulations may result in dismissal from the laboratory.
- Preparation
- I or the teaching assistant shall browse the preparative work in your notebook and manual checking for completeness but not necessarily accuracy. A grade from 0 to 10 is assigned for the day.
- Honor Code
- Work must be done independently, without collaboration. Plagiarism from current classmates or previously submitted work is a violation of the Honor Code. Id est, any work submitted for grade must be your
work, and your work alone.
